For those of you who may not be aware, our founder & chief designer Donna Zhong is originally from China although she grew up between Singapore and in the Bay Area, California with her family. Regardless of where they are, however, they would always celebrate Chinese New Year together.
This year, the family is extra excited to reunite for the Chinese New Year celebrations as Kandyce, one of the key team members and also Donna’s sister, has just given birth to a new member of the family a few months ago.
As everyone gears up to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Rat, the team decided to share some of the pieces we’ll be wearing at our Lunar New Year gatherings.
BRING ON THE LUCKY REDS
Red is the ultimate Chinese New Year color - it is believed to bring you luck and great fortune. So let’s put on all the red we got, shall we?
This white and red wool knit dress the ultimate “ lucky” piece to wear. We love it because the color-block design is minimal, unique and very chic. We guarantee you will look great in all the family photos! Pair it with a pair of black booties or white sneakers to dress it down; wear it with heeled boots or pumps for a more formal look.
We are obsessed with this matching red satin set featuring a blouse with a twisted knot and a knee-length skirt that comes with a beautiful drape design. The subtle shine on the material adds so much poise and elegance to the outfit. You can, of course, easily style the top and bottom with other pieces in your closet for work, date night or other occasions.
JUST A DASH OF RED
If a head-to-toe red outfit is just too much for you, then we suggest you to simply go for the following choices:
A similar design to the Color-Block Turtleneck Dress, this sweater pairs well with simple black pants or light blue jeans. We think this may be just the right amount of auspicious red for those who are not into monochromatic outfits.
Alternatively, you can go for our 100% pure wool scarf. Throw it over any outfit and you’re ready for Lunar New Year!
